What is Couples Counselling? How do we do it at SEVEE? A. Couples counselling is not about taking sides. It’s not about proving who’s right or wrong. And it’s definitely not about keeping the relationship just for the sake of it. At SEVEE, we see couples therapy as a space to pause, reflect, and work through the emotional noise - with honesty, dignity, and courage. We begin with a joint session, where both partners come together. This helps us understand the dynamic. Then, we usually move to individual sessions, because sometimes things are easier to say when you're not in the same room. Both parts are important. It’s not about secrecy, it’s about safety and clarity. We charge per session, not per person - because the focus is on time, presence, and the therapeutic process. But we do recommend only 3 people in a session (you, your partner, and your therapist) for emotional bandwidth and balance. Couples counselling works only when both partners are ready to show up. If one is in therapy and the other is emotionally absent, it becomes an individual journey - not a couple’s one. We are not lawyers trying to get you divorced. We are not elders telling you to stay together. We are mental and emotional health professionals, and our only job is to help you explore whether this relationship can be healed - and how. At SEVEE, I suggest what I call the “100 Days Box” - that means stay in therapy regularly for 100 days before taking any big decision. During this time, you'll have space to think, feel, and process, not just react. If you are a victim of physical or severe psychological abuse, please know you are not alone - but also know this is beyond couples counselling. Please contact a local women’s helpline or legal authority, and then book your SEVEE session if you feel safe.
